In June, the FDA announced that new Actos bladder cancer warnings will be added to the drug’s label, alerting users about the potential increased risk if the drug is used for more than one year. Denture Cream Zinc Poisoning Side Effects
Because of the zinc as the main ingredient in most denture creams,  more than 35 million Americans are at risk of dangerous and permanent side effects.  Researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center published a medical report linking denture cream to neurological problems in the medical journal Neurology in August 2008.  Manufacturers of these products failed to warn the consumers of the potential toxicity of  using too much of their product, which can lead to dangerous levels of zinc in the body.  Because the cream is used on the gums, the zinc is absorbed into the body, causing copper in the body to be depleted.  This in turn causes neurological disorders, such as neuropathy.  Neuropathy is a disorder caused by damaged nerves and can leave victims permanently disabled and reliant upon a walker or wheelchair.
